CCW leads business community in search for young entrepreneur

Fri 29 Nov 13

CCW is leading the business community in the search for young entrepreneurs with brilliant ideas to start up their own businesses.

Donna Reynolds and Shena Whelan of CCW are running the programme to find the West Fife Young Entrepreneur Award 2013, which is open to all enterprising 16-21 year-olds.

A prize worth more than £10,000 – in cash and support in kind, including legal services from CCW - will be the reward for the winner of the West Fife Young Entrepreneur Award 2013.

The award, which is open to all enterprising 16-21 year-olds, was won last year by Rachel Thomson for her Custom Made concept, which created original and quirky designs for T-shirts and other textiles and merchandise. As well as £2500 cash on the start-up of the business, Rachel's prize included advice and practical assistance with accountancy, banking, IT, legal work, signage, training and insurance.

CCW, assisted by accountants Thomson Cooper, who ran the inaugural West Fife Young Entrepreneur Award in 2012, have pulled together a formidable array of business talents to support the 2013 Award.

Other companies on board include Bank of Scotland, jeweller H Samuel, Business Gateway (Fife) and Dunfermline Press, the media partner again this year, which will run regular updates on the award programme.

Donna Reynolds said:

"CCW is passionate about supporting young people and nurturing new enterprises - and delighted to be involved in such a fantastic partnership between young people and the business community.

The businesses of West Fife have stepped up to the plate to get involved in this excellent programme again – to offer the winner a superb package of business support and direction. The quality of entries last year was extremely high – and very diverse. We know there are lots of enterprising young minds out there – and we are confident that we can find a worthy successor to Rachel and that the business community can help them turn their ideas into successful business reality."

Judges for the competition include Scotland rugby star Alastair Kellock, plus three leading members of West Fife's business community - Gerard Eadie from CR Smith, Scott Cairns of James Donaldson & Sons and Pauline Braisby of Hand Picked. Other sponsors are GS Insurance, Florizel Media, Sign Plus, Taxi Central, Upstream IT and 75 Degrees Catering.

The deadline for entries has been extended until 22 November 2013.  Click here to download the entry form. For further information, please contact Donna Reynolds or Shena Whelan at CCW on 0845 22 33 001 or email [email protected]
