Celebrating Fife’s Achievements in Innovation, Architecture & Design

Tue 26 Jan 16

Fife has a long and proud tradition of inspiring people, ideas and products which have had a
lasting impact on our Kingdom and beyond. We want to celebrate our remarkable history with
a year-long calendar of events.

Did you know?

Fife has produced some real innovators, for example in the food industry which is so important to the area. Cupar was home to the only sugar beet factory in Scotland, and Chillilicious was Scotland's first chilli farm. Today they grow about 12,000kg of chillies every year in over 75 varieties.

We have some wonderful buildings like the Fire Station Creative which hasbrought new life to an iconic building and the award winning Maggie's Centre in Kirkcaldy by world famous architect Zaha Hadid. Fife was also the birthplace of architect and designer, Robert Adam, who influenced the direction of architecture across the western world.

Scotland's newest World Heritage Site, the iconic Forth Bridge, is one of the finest examples of industrial design in the world. Today Fife is home to many talented designers, makers and artists drawing inspiration from the wonderfully rich landscape and culture the Kingdom offers.

What will you do to celebrate Fife's Innovation, Architecture & Design during 2016?
