Create a Buzz in St Andrews and Win a Prize
We are just a few weeks away from this year’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, when many of the world’s top golfers and well-known names from entertainment and sport will be in St Andrews.
We are proud to have been part of the community here for more than 30 years, thanks to two prestigious golf events, and as a regular in St Andrews we want to work with the community and create a real sense of atmosphere in town, encouraging more spectators than ever to enjoy all that is on offer.
The Championship, one of Scotland’s biggest sports events, will be played over the Old Course St Andrews, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie from October 5-8, bringing thousands of visitors into the town.
This year we want to work alongside the St Andrews business community to make the week even more special.
We invite you to join us as detailed below.
Participate in our Window Dressing Competition for shops, restaurants and businesses within St Andrews town centre. We have 2017 Championship posters, easy-peel window decals and branded tees and golf balls which will help you create an eye-catching display. Your imagination is the only limit to any other forms of decorations you want to add to produce a prize-winning design.
We will judge the window displays on Monday October 2, just before the start of the Championship.
The winner will receive a pair of VIP hospitality tickets for the Old Course Hotel Dining Club to watch the final of the Championship in 5-Star luxury. We will also include a pair of course tickets for the Sunday final at the Old Course, valued at £40, for ALL businesses which participate. Everyone who enters will be acknowledged in Links Times, our daily on-course newspaper which contains each day’s draw and is available to all spectators.
We would also like to invite retailers to join in with a Promotional Offer to any spectator who presents with ‘The Links Times’. This could take the form of an exclusive discount or a ‘buy one get one free’ offer. We would then mention you in The Links Times to encourage spectators to visit your premises.
Please let us know as soon as possible if you are interested in either or both of the above options by contact us with details of your business at: [email protected] and we will get back to you promptly.
Window decoration items will be delivered in the week commencing September 11, giving you plenty of time to get your displays together. The deadline for submitting a promotion to be published in the Links Times is Monday September 25.
In the meantime we look forward to seeing you at this year’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Among the golfers who have graced the fairways in recent years are Major Championship winners such as Rory McIlroy, Martin Kaymer, Ernie Els, Padraig Harrington, Louis Oosthuizen and Danny Willett, former Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke and popular golfers like Luke Donald, Tommy Fleetwood, Branden Grace and Lee Westwood.
In recent years they have been joined by showbiz stars Jamie Dornan, Ronan Keating, Greg Kinnear, Brian McFadden and Huey Lewis, plus sporting greats like Sir Steve Redgrave, Sir Ian Botham, Kevin Pietersen, Shane Warne and Jamie Redknapp.
Admission is free for all spectators over the first three days with final day tickets on Sunday, October 8 available to purchase at the entrance gates for £20 (Concessions £15), or in advance at: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/alfred-dunhill-links-championship-2017-tickets-35052501977
