Scotland’s Events Industry Advisory Group (EIAG) met this week to discuss a number of areas directly related to the ongoing restart and recovery of the events sector.
The Group heard from the Scottish Government who provided a further update on the Covid-19 certification scheme following the Scottish Parliament approving the use of Coronavirus vaccination certificates to enter some events and higher risk venues. There was a detailed discussing between the Government and EIAG members, with the Group providing feedback on the scheme, in particular highlighting the tight timescale, cost, and staffing practicalities as well as testing of the technology for implementing the scheme.
The Scottish Government also gave an update on the Live Events Reinsurance Scheme and asked EIAG members to provide feedback on how the scheme is working for the sector. They also provided an update on the ongoing work to review of baseline mitigations and attendance limits, and the progress of the Event Sector Stimulus Initiatives whitepaper. The Group again highlighted the need for additional support for the sector as part its ongoing recovery, with the Scottish Government continuing to emphasise the tight and challenging budgetary framework in which they are working.
In addition to the above, general updates were provided to the Group on the next industry webinar, which will focus on vaccine certification scheme, and the ongoing work around Standard Classification Codes. EventScotland also provided an update on the ongoing work of Scotland’s Events Recovery Fund and the early plans for the National Events Conference in 2022.
A summary meeting note will be published soon from the meeting. Further outputs from the group and representatives from the sector can raise any points for consideration by the group by emailing [email protected]. The next meeting of the group is scheduled for 25 August 2021.
