Fife goes down well with international tourism companies

Fife tourism businesses wowed international visitors at VisitScotland Expo, showcasing natural attractions and outdoor activities to tour companies from as far afield as India and Scandinavia.  The Fife stand also scooped the "Best Stand at the Show" award.

Visitors came from USA, Spain, Italy, Scandinavia, India and Russia with some bookings being taken on the spot and significant other business leads gathered.

John Parker, chair of the Fife Tourism Partnership and owner of Morton of Pitmilly Countryside Resort said, "The exhibition was an excellent opportunity to meet tour operators and travel companies and talk to them about how much Fife has to offer. Whether it is golf, walking, outdoor activity, history or beautiful scenery we were able to exceed their expectations. Obviously many contacts have to be followed up now but we are very optimistic that there will be significant business coming to Fife as a result of the show."

Cllr Lesley Laird, chair of Fife Council Business, Enterprise, Economy & Planning Policy Advisory Group, said, "Raising Fife's profile in this way is a long term investment in our tourism sector. Building relationships and strong connections with the key travel buyers is an integral part of how we will attract, and develop new visitors to Fife.  We have so much to offer, and providing a good customer experience is essential to encouraging people to regularly return to Fife."

Local Tourist Associations and companies Blown Away, Knockhill Racing Circuit, Morton of Pitmilly Countryside Resort, Fife Golf Partnership, Fairmont St Andrews, Outdoor Fife, Best of Scotland Holidays, Exploring Fife and Scotland Golf Tours exhibited.
