Fife's international reputation as a golf destination will be a major attraction for buyers at the Visit Scotland Expo in Glasgow in April.
Liam Barn, project manager of the Fife Golf Partnership, expects to meet hundreds of tour operators and travel companies during the two day show. He will be accompanied by representatives from the Fairmont St Andrews, previously winners of the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO)European Golf Resort award, and Scotland Golf Tours.
He is optimistic about the benefits of attending Expo, "Fife has a worldwide reputation for golf but we need to keep reaching new visitors and exploring new markets. There are an estimated 7 million golfers in Europe alone. With 47 golf courses, including links and parkland, Fife offers something for every golfer. The range of hotels and accommodation plus other visitor attractions results in significant associated business benefits across the Kingdom.
Cllr Lesley Laird, chair of Fife Council Business, Enterprise, Economy & Planning Policy Advisory Group, said, "Expo is an excellent showcase for Fife and this year the special emphasis on outdoor activity, golf and our fantastic natural attractions will be well received by visitors from home and abroad. Tourism is a vitally important part of our local economy and employment and I am sure the exhibition will be a great success for our local businesses."
The golf companies will join other tourism businesses and representatives of the Fife Tourism Partnership to promote Fife's wealth of visitor attractions from medieval villages, outdoor activities, culture and natural history.
The exhibition runs during 17th and 18th April at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre.
