First Minister statement: Exit from lockdown could be 'accelerated'

Wed 3 Mar 21

The First Minister has given hope that lockdown exit could be accelerated in her statement to the Scottish Parliament this afternoon saying that she hopes to be able to confirm some changes to Scotland's level 4 restrictions when she updates Parliament next week.

She said; "Between now and then - and in light of the positive data that I will report on today - we will be considering if it might be possible to accelerate the exit from lockdown in any way, consistent of course with the care and caution that we know continues to be necessary."

Ms Sturgeon added; "There is more reason to be optimistic now than at any time since early autumn last year. That said, we know we need to take care to avoid sending progress into reverse."
