VisitScotland are delighted to announce the appointment of Caroline Warburton as the new Regional Leadership Director for the East.
A familiar face across the industry, Caroline has joined VisitScotland from the Scottish Tourism Alliance (STA) where she was responsible for coordinating the national tourism strategy, Tourism Scotland 2020. She brings with her a national view of the industry as well as an excellent knowledge of Scotland’s tourism sectors and a reputation for working closely with industry groups, stakeholders and businesses.
Prior to being at the STA, Caroline ran Wild Scotland, Scotland’s wildlife and adventure tourism association bringing the sector together to raise its profile nationally and internationally. Indeed, in 2011 Caroline featured in VisitScotland’s Meet the Scots campaign, making it to the front cover of our international brochure. She is also a champion of responsible tourism through her international contacts.
With the addition of Fife, Caroline takes over from previous director Jim Clarkson who is now managing the West. Caroline’s role is to oversee VisitScotland’s strategic engagement for the East of Scotland. She is supported by Jo Robinson who continues as Regional Director for Aberdeen City & Shire and Moray, with Caroline leading in Dundee, Angus, Perth & Kinross and Fife.
Caroline says: “I am delighted to be joining the VisitScotland team and I'm looking forward to getting out and about over the coming months to meet the businesses, communities, tourism groups and organisations who are driving tourism forwards in this area. I'm joining at a great time for the region with so many exciting new opportunities and developments underway together with the recent launch of #ScotlandIsNow. I believe that it really is the time for the region to take the spotlight. But I would say that, wouldn’t I!”
