Scotland Food and Drink Fortnight 2021

Fri 27 Aug 21

Be part of the nation’s biggest food and drink celebration

It’s that time again. Every year, Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight celebrates everything that makes food and drink such a special sector.

It’ll run from 4 – 19 September, and during this time will take a ‘virtual tour’ of our food and drink producers, while also looking forward to the opportunities ahead.

Even through the most turbulent times, our long-established businesses and plucky startups grow, manufacture and rear outstanding local produce.

Bursting with passionate, talented and creative people, these brands adapt quickly to conquer any challenge, and are why Scotland’s reputation for exceptional food and drink remains unmatched. And why our appetite for buying Scottish remains unquenched.

So, this Fortnight, let’s shine a light and remind people why Scottish food and drink is worth savouring and worth supporting.

You could be a chef using local ingredients, a regional market, café or shop, a community initiative established during lockdown, a food and drink business embracing Net Zero or a budding entrepreneur eager to try exciting new ideas - it’s all good for the pot. Scotland Food & Drink want to help share your stories with the nation and beyond.

How do I join in?

There are many ways in which you can get involved. Here’s some examples:

  • There’s an optional banner which you can download and use across the bottom of any images you share to show your support.
  • Get involved in the online chat by posting engaging content which gives an insight into you, your business, products or people.
  • You could use the Fortnight to launch something new, like a new product, sustainability project or initiative to support the campaign’s goals.
  • The dedicated hashtags #ScotFoodFort21 and the @scotfooddrink Twitter, Instagram and Facebook can be used to link content and further promote all the activities taking place throughout the Fortnight.
  • Tell customers your story – your people, your products, your local area, how you’re producing sustainably etc.
  • Telling your story and sharing it across your social media channels is a really effective way to engage with your customers, and reach new ones, during the Fortnight. Post striking images of your products and producers, showcase your team or highlight your hidden gems.
  • The Scotland Food & Drink team might even share your content on its channels too, helping you reach a wider audience. All you need to do is tag them in your post using @scotfooddrink and use the campaign hashtag #ScotFoodFort20.

There’s a toolkit available for you to get inspiration and it includes example social media posts and links to assets you can use as well as more ideas on what you can do. Take a look at the Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight 2021 toolkit.
