Take part in Living Wage Week 2020

Mon 9 Nov 20

You are invited to help celebrate – or learn more about – the real Living Wage movement this week (9-15 November) during Living Wage Week.

The annual event, organised by Living Wage Scotland, has a host of online networking events and webinars for employers interested in or already paying the real Living Wage. Click here for more information and to book your place.

Businesses who are already accredited Living Wage Employers can find out how they can take part in celebrating the week by downloading a digital  pack of Living WageWeek resources.

The real Living Wage is an independently calculated rate based on the cost of living and is paid voluntarily by employers.  The rate is calculated in November each year by the Resolution Foundation from an analysis of the wage that employees need to earn in order to afford the basket of goods required for a decent standard of living.  Currently the rate is £9.30 per hour, today the Resolution Foundation announced that the rate will increase to £9.50 in April 2021.

Over 800 more employers in the UK have become accredited Living Wage employers since the start of lockdown, including Tate and Lyle, Network Rail, Capital One, the All England Lawn Tennis Club and Ember Technology in Glenrothes.

They join a network of almost 7,000 employers across the UK who are already paying this recommended rate to ensure all staff earn a wage that meets the real cost of living, and covers everyday needs.
