Founder of Balgove Larder, Will Docker said:

“Following a challenging year for so many hospitality and tourism businesses, it is so heartening to see Fife represented and be part of the global travel and food story. I’m delighted that Balgove Larder is named as a finalist but we also work with a number of local businesses who supply our café, farm shop and Steak Barn and it’s a testament to the skill and passion of every team member involved.”

Founded in 2010 and based just outside St Andrews in Fife, Balgove Larder has become a destination for locals and visitors alike, who are able to shop for the best Scottish food and drink from Fife and beyond. This includes seasonal produce direct from Balgove Larder’s own farms and award-winning meat prepared by their team of traditionally skilled butchers. By converting former farm buildings, Balgove Larder now includes a Farm Shop, Steak Barn, Butchery, Flower Shed, Homestore and Café.

Although some aspects of the business have been limited by the Coronavirus pandemic, Balgove Larder’s farm shop has remained open with an expanded delivery service and product range online for local and national delivery. The business specialises in sourcing fresh produce, meat, craft drinks and baking from surrounding farms and local small businesses. This includes a wide selection of meats reared on their own farms, prepared by the skilled in-house butchery team. Balgove was recently won two awards for their mentoring and team development at the Scottish Craft Butchers Training Awards 2020.
