Introduction to our strategy

The Fife Tourism and Events Strategy 2019-2029 has been developed by the Fife Tourism Partnership in collaboration with Fife Council with detailed input from tourism businesses in Fife. The strategy sets out an ambitious, yet realistic challenge for the Fife tourism sector to achieve even stronger economic and employment growth while developing our thriving tourism industry.

Increasing the value of tourism from £565m to £836m

Working hard to maintain and grow visitor income to support the sector. Building on strong business collaboration around key themes to develop and attract new markets. Competing with other nearby destinations to mitigate the impact of seasonality.

1 million page views on WelcometoFife.com

Pressing ahead with digital connectivity, booking systems, social media, apps and communications. Promoting digital advocacy amongst all levels of the tourism industry. Adopting digital practices for visitor information and heritage interpretation

Increase the value of events in Fife from £18m to £20m

Encouraging and promoting vibrant events to tackle seasonality, providing an international stage for Fife and attracting thousands of visitors. Showing Fife as a destination that can host large-scale and high-profile events. Building a thriving and sustainable events sector

Increase the number of Fulltime Equivalent jobs from 11,500 to 13,000

Overcoming challenges to promote tourism as a positive and rewarding career choice. Demonstrating that leadership within a destination from its business community is paramount to the on-going success of a destination. Providing opportunities to develop leadership skills within the sector.
