Fife Tourism Economic Impact

These reports examine the volume and value of tourism and the impact of visitor expenditure on the local economy.

The results are derived using the STEAM Model under licence by Global Tourism Solutions (UK) Ltd. The STEAM model measures tourism locally on the supply side and provides realistic and reliable quarterly and year on year trends. The results become more accurate as the local database of tourism businesses expands and improves. The results are sensitive to specific events such as local festivals, local business opening and closures, and unforeseen impacts such as the pandemic. As this model takes a ‘bottom up’ approach, the reliability of the data relies on accurate local knowledge, and date input by local businesses. It is the model used by most Scottish Local Authorities, giving us the opportunity to benchmark against areas with a similar infrastructure.
