Survey Insights to Address Recruitment and Skills Shortages Published

19 December 2022

Insights from a new survey, aimed at finding out more about the reputation of the tourism and hospitality sector and its attractiveness as a career choice, were published last week.

Delivered by 56 Degree Insight in partnership with Edinburgh Napier University and ATHE, the survey found that whilst the majority of the population recognise the significant importance of tourism to the economy and support its development, views on the attractiveness of the sector as a career choice were somewhat polarised. Despite these mixed opinions, it found that there was much greater consensus across the population on the need to take action to improve opportunities for careers in Scottish hospitality and tourism, starting with greater collaboration between the government, industry and academia.
